Best Times To Visit Nova Scotia

Anytime is a good time to visit Nova Scotia. There is always something to see and do for here for everyone all year round. Some specific activities and attractions are listed below to help you plan your next visit to Nova Scotia.

Antiques, Arts & Crafts: June 15 to Sept 15. Many antiques stores, craft markets and art galleries are seasonal operations.

Beaches: July and August. Beach enthusiasts will find that water and air temperatures are best during these two months.

Bicycle Tours: July 1st to October 31st. This is the driest and warmest time of the year in Nova Scotia. However, late June has often proven to be ideal for cycling as well.

Birding: May to October 15th. Highlights include the spring and fall migrations. Sea bird colonies are most interesting to see around June and early July. Gorier Island is the place to see Puffins and Whales.

General Touring: July 2nd to October 15th. This includes visiting museums and historic sites. Many of the local and provincial museums and attractions close shortly after the Thanksgiving weekend.

Golfing: May to November 5th. The courses are in tip-top shape and usually reasonably uncrowded.

Hiking: June to October 31st. The trails are usually driest in summer.

Horseback Riding: May to October. There are wonderful opportunities for Trail, Pony and Wagon Rides throughout riding season. Sleigh rides are also available throughout the winter whenever we have snow.

Sea Kayaking: May to September 30th. The water temperature is warm and the winds are mildest, especially during August and September.

Festivals: July 1st to August 15th. The Halifax International Tattoo and the Buskers Street Festival are always hits with vacationers.

Fall Colours: September 15th to October 31st. The leaves are simply beautiful to behold and Nova Scotia has always been a favorite destination during this time of year.
