Sambro Head / Peggy's Cove Tour

Off the beaten path this is an enjoyable trip to a couple of traditional fishing villages only minutes from Halifax. As well, there are potential stops at Fleming Park and York Redoubt. The trip can also be extended to include hiking the Pennant Point Trail and York Redoubt.

Along the way is Duncan's Cove, an interesting community of houses around a small sandy beach. We will follow the shore route and make our way to Ketch Harbour. At Sambro, the largest fishing port on this coast, we will stop briefly for photos and chat with the local fishermen. Along the way we will pass a number of abandoned coastal fortifications dating from World War II (including the large gun batteries which are suitable for exploring).
